Do You Know What's in Your Pet's Food?question_mark20wince

You won't find the following products in any food Aunt Kerry has on the shelf:

  • Byproducts- byproducts, even if they indicate a protein source, are rendered "meat" products of questionable quality and source. Look for foods with Chicken, Chicken Meal, Lamb, Lamb Meal, Beef, etc. as the primary ingredient in your pet's diet. No byproducts should appear in the ingredient list.
  • Corn, Wheat- A low quality, low nutrition ingredient. Look for whole grain ingredients like rice, borwn rice, oatmeal, or barley.
  • Corn Gluten, Wheat Gluten- Used as a protein filler. It is not a suitable replacement for real protein sources!
  • Synthetic Preservatives (BHA, BHT, Ethoxyquin)- A cheap way to preserve your pet's food, but might lead to health problems such as cancer and kidney problems in the long run. Why use a synthetic when natural preservatives such as rosemary and vitamin E work fine?
  • Coloring/Artificial Flavors- These are not a healthy part of your pet's daily diet. You wouldn't feed children Fruit Loops all the time, no reason to feed your pet the equivelent.
